Cardano Launches NIGHT Token Airdrop to 30 Million Wallets
Cardano's Midnight Network has launched the NIGHT token airdrop, named the "Glacier Drop," targeting 30 million wallets across eight blockchain ecosystems including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others. The airdrop, live since August 5, will end on October 4, with eligibility based on a snapshot from July 11 for users holding at least $100 in supported assets.
Key details include:
- 50% of tokens are allocated to Cardano wallets, 20% to Bitcoin, and 30% among other networks.
- Over 23,000 redemptions processed, totaling 470 million NIGHT tokens.
- Claim process involves submitting a Cardano address and signing a message, with tokens released in four installments over 360 days.
- Some users reported issues claiming tokens, particularly with invalid signature errors.
- A workaround for Ledger wallet users is being developed and expected by August 25.
The Glacier Drop employs a three-phase distribution strategy, starting with the current claim period, followed by a "Scavenger Mine" phase for unclaimed tokens, and a four-year "Lost and Found" window to encourage long-term adoption and prevent market dumping.
