Aavegotchi DAO Votes to Migrate Ecosystem from Polygon to Base
The DAO governing Aavegotchi has voted 93.25% in favor of migrating to Base from Polygon, indicating a shift in developer and user preferences in the Ethereum layer-2 ecosystem.
- The proposal, “Make Aavegotchi Based Again,” outlines plans for full deployment on Base.
- All Aavegotchi NFTs, wearables, game assets, and smart contracts will be cloned and relaunched on Base.
- Legacy assets on Polygon will remain viewable but frozen to prevent transfers or updates.

- Polygon's total value locked (TVL) has decreased from nearly $10 billion in 2021 to $737 million today.
- Base’s TVL increased from $430 million to $2.9 billion since early last year.
- Daily active addresses on Polygon dropped from 1.3 million to 550,000, while Base's addresses more than doubled to nearly 900,000.
Pixelcraft Studios highlighted improved onboarding, faster transactions, and better marketplace support as reasons for the migration. A wrapper contract will protect assets listed on MagicEden and OpenSea. The migration is expected to take four to six weeks.
