Cookie Policy

In short: we use a small set of cookies to make the site work (account login, selected currency) and analytics to understand how it is used. There are no advertising or targeting cookies on this site; we do not sell your data or share it with ad networks.

1. What are cookies

A cookie is a small text record the site stores in your browser. It helps to "recognize" your browser between pages and visits — for example, to keep you signed in and remember your display currency.

2. Cookies we use

Strictly necessary — the site does not work without them, always active:

  • hl_consent — remembers your cookie choice (stored for 1 year);
  • wordpress_*, wp-settings-* — account login and service settings (signed-in users only).

Functional — convenience features:

  • currency_code — the currency prices are displayed in;
  • holder_user_settings — interface preferences (up to 1 year).

Analytics — activated according to your choice in the cookie banner:

  • Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_*) — anonymized visit statistics. Before consent it runs in cookieless mode (Google Consent Mode v2);
  • Yandex Metrica (_ym_*) — visit and usability statistics.

Retention periods for analytics cookies are set by the services themselves (typically up to 2 years); see their policies: Google, Yandex.

3. Browser local storage

The "recent" block in search (your latest queries and viewed coins/exchanges) lives in localStorage hl_recent in your browser only: this data is never sent to the server and is automatically cleared after 90 days.

4. Technical data on the server

Separately from cookies, we briefly keep in service logs:

  • on-site search queries — the query text, browser language and the result you opened. Used to improve search (e.g. to find queries with no results). The IP address in these records is automatically erased after 90 days;
  • the IP address when submitting forms ("Found an error?", exchange complaint) — spam protection;
  • standard web-server logs (IP, request time) — security and stability.

This data is used only to run the service, is not combined into a user profile and is not shared with third parties.

5. Managing cookies

  • On your first visit the banner offers "Accept" or "Necessary only".
  • You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer.
  • We honor the Global Privacy Control signal: if it is enabled in your browser, analytics is switched off automatically.
  • You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings — the site will keep working, except features that require signing in.

6. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the service or legislation changes — the current version is always on this page. Questions: me@holder.io.
