Sources and corrections

A checkable claim lets readers inspect its source and understand the time, service and conditions it concerns. This page explains how to distinguish market data from an author’s conclusion and send a useful error report.

Different facts require different sources

Prices, volumes and market lists come from market-data providers and public interfaces. They may update at different intervals. A directory price is not a promise of execution; reported volume alone does not establish that a particular amount can be sold quickly.

A venue's documents are the source for account terms and fees. Permission to provide a regulated service requires the relevant register or regulator's document. The legal entity, country, product and date need to match. A project's public statement should remain identifiable as its own statement.

Practical experience and automated data

A first-hand account describes an observation under particular conditions. A transaction link, screenshot or correspondence may support an individual fact without validating all of the author's conclusions. An AI summary is not primary evidence either.

A refreshed table and a revised article are different events. When reporting an old figure or condition, identify the exact location so it can be traced to data, prose, translation or calculation. See the methodology section for individual metrics.

What to include in a report

Use the feedback form to send the page URL, disputed passage or value, proposed correction and a primary-source link. Include a date for changed terms; for an interface issue, describe your device and the steps that triggered it. If the form is unavailable, email me@holder.io.

A specific error supported by a source is more useful than a general demand to change a rating. A report supports examination of the claim; it does not automatically establish that the proposed correction is right.

Scope of a check

Confirming one passage does not validate an entire page. If a claim cannot be confirmed, identifying its origin and uncertainty is more informative than giving it apparent authority through a fresh date. An author credit, affiliate link or update label alone does not establish accuracy.

Do not share access secrets or unnecessary personal information as evidence. Questions about personal data or removal can be sent to the same email address, identifying the information and page concerned.
