AceTCG Launches 192 Unique ‘Alpha Cards’ NFTs Inspired by Crypto History
The team behind the blockchain-themed trading card game AceTCG is launching 192 unique “Alpha Cards” NFTs this week, inspired by crypto history and culture.
Alpha Cards are digital collectibles based on the open-source AceTCG trading card game.
The NFT collection will release in eight drops over four weeks, with mints every Monday and Thursday. The first mint on the Base network has recorded approximately 2,148 mints as of Friday.
AceTCG features “Magic: The Gathering”-style combat using crypto-themed cards that highlight significant moments, memes, and jargon from the industry.
Cards include summonable creatures like “dog wif hat” and “SEC Auditron,” and spell cards such as “Centralized Sequencer,” “Account Abstraction,” and “Fiat Fountain.”
AceTCG’s intellectual property is open-sourced to align with crypto and Web3 principles.
Colton Orr, founder of AceTCG and former creative director at Gitcoin, stated that the open-source nature of the game reflects his values and allows others to build upon it.
AceTCG was funded by a Gitcoin grant in March 2023 and developed over two years in Orr's parent's basement, documented on his blog.
The first “Alpha Edition” of the cards sold out at DevConnect Istanbul.
