Base Network Experiences 29-Minute Downtime, First Since Launch

Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 scaling product, experienced a 29-minute outage affecting block production, deposits, withdrawals, and flashblock operations. The incident happened at 06:15 UTC due to an "unsafe head delay," disrupting the network's ability to confirm blocks.

The team announced they were investigating the issue at 6:43 UTC and resolved it shortly after. Monitoring measures were implemented to prevent future complications.

This outage is notable given Base's history of uninterrupted service and its importance in the Ethereum layer-2 ecosystem. Base has accumulated $4.2 billion in total value locked (TVL), with $1.5 billion associated with the Morpho lending protocol.
