Bitvavo Receives MiCA License to Operate in European Economic Area

Bitvavo has obtained a Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) License from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). This allows Bitvavo to operate across 30 countries in the European Economic Area.

Key details include:

  • MiCA regulations were implemented in December 2022 to harmonize crypto rules across the EU and associated countries.
  • Four exchanges received licenses in the Netherlands in December 2022.
  • Other exchanges, including OKX, Crypto.com, and Bitpanda, obtained MiCA licenses from Malta.
  • Kraken received its license from Ireland; Coinbase from Luxembourg; Bybit from Austria.
  • Bitvavo is already registered in France, Austria, Italy, and Spain.
