Blockchain.com Appoints New Executives Amid IPO Plans

Blockchain.com is advancing towards a potential initial public offering (IPO) by appointing two experienced executives:

  • Justin Evans as chief financial officer, previously with Goldman Sachs.
  • Mike Wilcox as chief operating officer, formerly CFO of Velocity Global and a Point72 portfolio manager.

Evans stated that the company is preparing to be a public entity when market conditions allow.

This development aligns with other cryptocurrency firms exploring IPO options, including Circle, Kraken, Gemini, Ripple, and BitGo.

Institutional adoption is increasing, aided by major companies like BlackRock and Fidelity launching cryptocurrency ETFs. An expected balanced approach from the U.S. SEC towards digital assets may improve conditions for public listings.

Blockchain.com has seen valuation changes: it raised $300 million at a $5.2 billion valuation in March 2021, increased its valuation to $14 billion in 2022, and recently closed a $110 million funding round valuing the company at $7 billion.
