DoubleZero Protocol Set for Mainnet Launch in September 2025

Austin Federa, former Head of Strategy at the Solana Foundation, is launching DoubleZero, a protocol aimed at enhancing blockchain communication and scalability. Key points include:

DoubleZero aims to be faster than the public internet, crucial for crypto trades.
12.57% of staked SOL operates on the DoubleZero testnet, with the mainnet expected in September.
The protocol allows multiple contributors to create a high-performance fiber mesh network globally.
It supports Solana first due to its unique transaction-to-node ratio.
The stake pool currently has around 3 million SOL, intended to subsidize validator costs on the testnet.
Mainnet will feature over 50 fiber links, significantly increasing data transmission capacity.
DoubleZero intends to facilitate higher limits for Solana protocol designers while maintaining lower latency connections.
There are fallback options to the public internet if issues arise within the DoubleZero network.
