Google Cloud Partners with BNB Chain and ZetaChain for Blockchain Development
Google Cloud is enhancing its blockchain involvement through partnerships with BNB Chain and ZetaChain. This reflects its interest in supporting decentralized application (dApp) and Web3 development, aiming to improve developer resources and security. The partnership with BNB Chain includes a $10 million investment for developer incentives, while ZetaChain benefits from Google Cloud’s validation of its mainnet and testnet environments.
The BNB Chain collaboration emphasizes Google Cloud's $10 million funding for blockchain developers via the Most Valuable Builder (MVB) Program. Up to 40 MVB projects on BNB Chain can receive Google Cloud credits: $350,000 for AI-based projects and $200,000 for other Web3 initiatives over two years. Google Cloud will not engage directly with BNB Chain immediately; however, these credits assist smaller developers, fostering blockchain innovation similar to recent AI funding efforts.
ZetaChain's partnership involves Google Cloud acting as a validator, enhancing the security and reliability of its mainnet and testnet. Google Cloud will manage five validators with 1 million ZETA tokens delegated. This commitment follows a previous validator partnership with MANTRA in October. Despite this collaboration, ZETA token prices have decreased by nearly 6% in the last 24 hours, likely due to market volatility.
These partnerships indicate Google Cloud’s deeper engagement in blockchain, representing one of its significant investments in the sector since April. Richard Widmann, Head of Web3 Strategy at Google Cloud, indicated the company's commitment to providing infrastructure and tools to advance dApp development and Web3 interoperability.
