Grayscale Adds Staking to US Spot Ethereum and Solana ETFs
Grayscale Assets Management has announced the introduction of staking for its spot Ethereum ETFs, marking a first in the Ethereum ETF space.
Key Developments
- Staking will be available for Grayscale's US-listed Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHE) and Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF (ETH), allowing investors to benefit from Ethereum network growth while maintaining spot Ether exposure.
- ETHE and ETH are not registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940, thus not subject to the same regulations as 40 Act-registered ETFs.
- Other issuers like BlackRock, Fidelity, and Ark Invest have yet to receive SEC approval for staking features in their Ethereum ETFs.
- Grayscale also introduced staking to its Solana Trust (GSOL), providing a traditional brokerage route for earning Solana staking rewards.
- The REX-Osprey Solana Staking ETF (SSK) offers direct SOL exposure and staking rewards, growing its assets to $404 million since July.
These initiatives occur amid a US government shutdown, which could delay decisions on several crypto ETFs planned for October.
