Helium Mobile Launches Free Plan and Increases Unlimited Data Pricing
Helium Mobile has restructured its pricing model for new subscribers:
- Free plan: 3 GB data, 300 texts, 100 minutes
- $15 plan: 10 GB data with unlimited talk and text
- $30 plan: Unlimited data
- Legacy subscribers can maintain the previous $20 per month rate
A points program is introduced to incentivize user engagement through activities like location sharing. These changes follow recent challenges faced by Helium Mobile's parent company Nova Labs, including staff layoffs (36% reduction) and a fraud lawsuit from the SEC.
Helium Mobile functions as a decentralized cellular network using individual hotspots to create mini cell towers, complemented by T-Mobile service in areas without Helium coverage. The revised pricing aims to boost revenue amidst ongoing operational difficulties.
