Lisk Launches Mainnet and Announces 15 Million Token Airdrop
After months of development and a successful testnet in February, the Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain network, Lisk, has launched its mainnet.
To celebrate the launch, Lisk announced plans for an airdrop, distributing 15 million LSK tokens to users.
Four-Month Airdrop Campaign Set to Reward Users for Engaging on the Platform
The airdrop aims to reward community members and encourage engagement. Lisk will split the event into two seasons to reach a broader audience.
The first season starts on November 21 and lasts for four months, with details about the second season yet to be revealed. Users can earn points by completing tasks on the Lisk platform, determining their LSK token allocation during the airdrop.
This initiative seeks to foster engagement and support Lisk's growth ambitions. Dominic Schwenter, Lisk’s Chief Operating Officer, stated that the airdrop campaign aligns with the company’s goal to create accessible web3 applications, emphasizing a seamless and engaging experience.
What This Means for Lisk
Lisk appears poised to expand its ecosystem following its mainnet launch and upcoming airdrop. Originally launched as a layer-1 blockchain in 2016, Lisk transitioned to Ethereum’s Layer 2 in late 2023 to focus on areas where Layer 2 solutions excel, such as real-world assets and decentralized physical infrastructure networks.
Now operating on Optimism’s OP Stack and utilizing Gelato’s rollup-as-a-service technology, Lisk aims to enhance scalability and security, making it more efficient for users and developers.
