Ethereum Researcher Max Resnick Joins Solana Development Team Anza

Max Resnick, a notable figure in Ethereum, has joined the Solana core development team at Anza, as announced on X. Previously, he worked at Consensys' Special Mechanisms Group and gained recognition for his contrarian views on Ethereum’s roadmap, advocating for scaling the base layer rather than focusing solely on layer-2 solutions.

Consensys, founded by Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin in 2014, is known for creating the MetaMask wallet. Anza, a spin-out from Solana Labs, is responsible for the ongoing development of Solana software.

Resnick's transition was supported by Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko. He plans to spend his first 100 days at Anza concentrating on fee markets and consensus, while also familiarizing himself with Solana’s core mechanisms. Resnick aims to introduce a model with multiple leaders proposing blocks to enhance economic efficiency within the protocol.

Currently, a single leader proposes blocks for validators, which concentrates economic power and can lead to inefficiencies. Resnick believes that having multiple competing leaders could reduce the economic value extracted from validators. He credits himself with broadening the conversation around Ethereum's scaling and notes the cultural openness of Solana compared to Ethereum, which he claims can be hindered by political dynamics within its community.
