MicroStrategy Acquires 10,107 BTC for $1.1 Billion

MicroStrategy has purchased 10,107 BTC for $1.1 billion, averaging $105,596 per coin. This marks the twelfth consecutive week of Bitcoin purchases for the firm, which now holds 471,107 BTC, valued at approximately $46.7 billion. Total investment in Bitcoin amounts to around $30 billion with an average cost of $64,500 per coin.

The acquisition was financed through the sale of 2,765,157 shares, raising $1.1 billion. MicroStrategy currently retains $4.35 billion in available shares under its sales agreement as of January 26.

Shareholder support has been crucial, with a recent vote increasing authorized Class A common shares from 330 million to 10.3 billion and preferred stock from 5 million to 1 billion, achieving 56% approval. The company aims to raise $42 billion by 2027 for further Bitcoin acquisitions.

MicroStrategy's Bitcoin yield is at 2.9% year-to-date. However, its shares declined about 5% at market close last Friday.

The firm's strategy focuses on leveraging shareholder backing and stock sales to enhance its position in the digital asset market.
