Monad Protocol Criticized for Excluding Hyperliquid Holders in MON Airdrop

Layer-1 blockchain Monad has opened the claiming period for its MON token airdrop, ending on November 3. The announcement faced criticism from the crypto community due to perceived misalignment with eligibility criteria.

  • Users from Hyperliquid and HypurrNFT expressed concerns about their ineligibility despite significant trading volumes.
  • Monad plans to distribute tokens to over 235,500 users, including active community members, high-volume traders, NFT holders, DAO participants, and ecosystem developers.
  • Only 5,500 wallets are eligible, just 0.74% of Monad's Discord users, raising dissatisfaction within the community.

DeFi researcher Coin Metrika criticized the strategy, noting the majority of airdrops went to addresses outside Monad's community.

HYPE is trading at $39, down 13% over the past week.
