Morgan Stanley Digital Asset Head Resigns to Start Crypto Firm in Switzerland

Andrew Peel has resigned as head of digital asset markets at Morgan Stanley to establish a crypto investment and tech firm in Zug, Switzerland. The new venture will focus on:

  • Tokenized funds
  • Trading tools bridging traditional finance and DeFi

Peel, who previously worked at Credit Suisse, plans to start fundraising soon after stepping down in March. This move coincides with Morgan Stanley's upcoming launch of retail crypto trading on E*Trade next year, following its institutional bitcoin fund access initiated in 2021. The acceleration of Wall Street's digital asset initiatives is influenced by changing U.S. policies and increased interest in tokenized funds from firms like BlackRock and Franklin Templeton.
