Philippine Government Launches Blockchain-Based Document Verification System on Polygon
The Philippine government has launched a blockchain-based document verification system on Polygon, despite a brief network outage due to the Heimdall v2 mainnet update. This initiative is part of Project Marissa, aimed at enhancing transparency in public sector operations.
- The system was tested in a sandbox before its full rollout.
- Confirmed by Maria Francesca Montes Del Rosario from the Department of Budget and Management.
- Designed to combat AI-generated deepfakes and secure official documents.
- Developed by Bayanichain, it acts as a digital ledger for managing government spending documents.
- Utilizes non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to issue financial documents like Special Allotment Release Orders (SAROs) and Notices of Cash Allocation (NCAs).
The process involves:
- Creation of official budget documents using the Action Document Releasing System (ADRS).
- Transfer to the Lumen platform, which employs Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) for easier integration.
- Application of the Prismo Protocol to determine public vs. private information sharing.
- Final recording on the Polygon blockchain for permanent, tamper-proof documentation.
