Plume Raises $20 Million to Develop Real-World Asset Finance Platform
Plume, a blockchain platform focused on tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs), has raised $20 million in a Series A funding round to enhance asset finance. The platform aims to connect traditional finance with blockchain technology, facilitating the transition of RWAs such as bonds, commodities, and real estate onto blockchain infrastructure.
Major Investors Back Plume’s Vision
The funding round attracted investments from notable venture capital firms including Brevan Howard Digital, Haun Ventures, Galaxy Ventures, Lightspeed Faction, Superscrypt, Hashkey, and Nomura's crypto arm Laser Digital. Additional participants included A Capital, 280 Capital, SV Angel, and Reciprocal Ventures. This follows a previous $10 million seed round led by Haun Ventures in May.
Plume intends to allocate the $20 million towards expanding its blockchain network and accelerating development, focusing on rolling out its layer-1 protocol, enhancing developer tools, and growing its ecosystem for both crypto-native users and traditional financial institutions. The company also plans to introduce blockchain infrastructures to facilitate RWA financing, aiming to simplify access to decentralized finance (DeFi) features like lending, borrowing, and tokenization.
Currently, Plume is seeking software engineers, with over 180 blockchain projects already being developed on its platform.
CEO Chris Yin stated that once operational, users will interact with the platform in three main ways: generating returns from tokenized assets like Treasury bills, trading verified physical collectibles, and placing wagers on events or future asset prices using real-world data integrated into the blockchain.
Plume’s Latest Partnership and Expanding Vision
Yin mentioned that the network will comprise different layers, each with its own characteristics and community. The mainnet launch is scheduled for early next year, with ongoing efforts to onboard developers and projects. To date, Plume has integrated over $4 billion worth of RWAs, encompassing private credit funds and niche assets like carbon credits and GPUs.
On December 17, Plume announced a strategic partnership with DigiFT, Singapore's first licensed on-chain RWA exchange. This collaboration aims to broaden access to regulated digital assets within Plume's ecosystem, providing institutional-grade tokenized investment opportunities to global investors.
The partnership includes integrating UBS Asset Management’s uMINT, a tokenized money market fund built on Ethereum, issued under UBS Tokenize to deliver innovative investment products to a wider audience. DigiFT’s platform supports the issuance and trading of asset-backed tokens while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, thereby connecting institutional-grade products to DeFi protocols and improving transparency and accessibility for investors.
