Pump.fun Faces Community Backlash Over Harmful Livestream Content
Solana-based decentralized platform Pump.fun, known for launching meme coins, is facing backlash due to allegations of its livestream feature broadcasting harmful and violent acts. The platform has gained popularity for enabling users to promote their tokens through community features like livestreams.
Recent incidents have led community members to demand stricter moderation and the shutdown of the livestream feature. On November 25, Pudgy Penguins safety project manager Beau flagged a user threatening suicide if their coin did not reach a specific market capitalization. Beau urged Pump.fun to investigate the situation and disable the livestream to assist the individual.
Hey @pumpdotfun there is currently someone using your livestreams to threaten to hang themselves if the coin does not reach a set marketcap.
Absolutely heinous and It needs to come down + see if you can get them help.
Shut down the livestream feature. This is out of control.

Other reports include users making violent threats, such as one individual allegedly firing a gun when their coin's value increased. Additionally, there were claims of a child threatening harm to family members and another individual threatening a school shooting if their memecoin did not surge. Community members criticized the livestream feature, describing it as a "pipeline of felonies" and calling for its suspension until better moderation tools are implemented.
Pump.fun Team Takes Corrective Measures
In response, Alon, the pseudonymous leader of Pump.fun, acknowledged the concerns but defended the platform's moderation practices. He stated that the team actively moderates images, videos, livestreams, and comments to maintain a safe environment.
with the live streaming meta on in full force there have been many people that came forward with some very legitimate concerns regarding what content that is allowed on the platform
let me make it abundantly clear: we actively moderate illicit content on the site. that includes…

Alon emphasized that a large team of moderators and engineers are working to manage the increased scale of coins, streams, and comments. Despite these assurances, community members continue to call for greater transparency and immediate measures to prevent harmful broadcasts.
