Sam Bankman-Fried May Be Released from Prison in December 2044

Sam Bankman-Fried, founder of FTX, may be released from prison in December 2044, four years earlier than initially sentenced.

Bankman-Fried was convicted in 2023 on seven counts of fraud and conspiracy.
He received a 25-year sentence in March 2024 for orchestrating an $11 billion fraud.
Prosecutors demonstrated he misappropriated customer funds to finance his hedge fund, political donations, and personal enrichment.
He is currently in a low-security federal prison in California after being transferred from Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center.
His sentence reduction is due to “Good Conduct Time” and participation in prison programs.
Time served prior to sentencing also contributes to the reduction.

Caroline Ellison, former CEO of Alameda, received a two-year sentence but is projected to be released in May 2026 due to similar reductions.
