SEC to Host Crypto Roundtable with Coinbase, Uniswap, and Cumberland on April 11
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will hold its second crypto roundtable on April 11 at its Washington, D.C. headquarters. The event, titled “Between a Block and a Hard Place: Tailoring Regulation for Crypto Trading”, will feature representatives from firms like Coinbase, Uniswap Labs, and Cumberland DRW.
Key panelists include:
- Gregory Tusar, Vice President of Institutional Product at Coinbase
- Katherine Minarik, Chief Legal Officer at Uniswap Labs
- Chelsea Pizzola, Associate General Counsel at Cumberland DRW
The session, which will be live-streamed, will include opening remarks from "crypto mom" Hester Peirce and SEC acting chair Mark Uyeda. This roundtable is part of the SEC's initiative to clarify regulatory frameworks for the digital asset industry.
Recent developments indicate a shift in the SEC's approach under the Trump administration, as it has dropped lawsuits against Coinbase and Cumberland DRW, signaling a more crypto-friendly stance. The SEC previously sued Coinbase in June 2023 for alleged securities law violations, but the case was dismissed in February 2025. Similarly, legal proceedings against Cumberland DRW were ended last month.
Future SEC roundtable discussions are scheduled for:
- April 25: Know Your Custodian: Key Considerations for Crypto Custody
- May 12: Focus on tokenization
- June 6: Spotlight on decentralized finance (DeFi)
