Sentient Labs to Launch Open Deep Search Framework for AI
Sentient Labs, co-founded by Polygon's Sandeep Nailwal and backed by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, is set to launch Open Deep Search (ODS), aimed at competing with closed-source AI search products like Perplexity.
Key details include:
- ODS enhances Sentient Chat's capabilities, integrating various agents built on its models.
- The framework is in limited testing, with a public release anticipated soon.
- Sentient Chat allows users to explore both models and applications built on them.
- ODS is community-owned, enabling modifications and the creation of domain-specific plug-ins.
- Sentient's Dobby model outperformed Perplexity’s Sonar Reasoning Pro and GPT-4o Search Preview in accuracy benchmarks.
- A waitlist of nearly two million exists for Sentient Chat, with about 700,000 users currently using Dobby.
Sentient aims to decentralize AI access and believes this approach addresses data sourcing challenges. Tyagi emphasized that Sentient does not see direct competition but focuses on model development.
