Solana Achieves Over 100,000 Transactions Per Second During Stress Test

Over the weekend, Solana's mainnet recorded a peak of 107,540 transactions per second (TPS), according to block data. A block included 43,016 successful and 50 failed transactions, processed by validator “Cavey Cool.”

The spike resulted from no-operation (noop) program calls, which are lightweight instructions that do not change state but stress-test network capacity. Critics label this load as artificial; however, Helius CEO Mert Mumtaz noted that the total cost to the network includes signature verification and other overhead.

Current average TPS stands at 3,500, with two-thirds being validator votes. Effective throughput for payments and applications is estimated at around 1,000 TPS. Theoretically, Solana can sustain 80,000–100,000 TPS during peak operations, enhancing the appeal of its SOL token.
