Sticker Shop Launches on Telegram Enabling NFT Trading Through TON
A new feature allows users to buy and trade limited-edition stickers as NFTs through the Open Network (TON) blockchain on Telegram. This initiative, influenced by Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov, is developed independently by Open Builders and the DOGS meme coin community.
The Sticker Shop offers Telegram users a way to convert their favorite stickers into collectible digital assets. These NFTs can be owned, traded, and resold on platforms like Getgems. Purchases utilize Stars, Telegram's in-app currency linked to the TON cryptocurrency. Each sticker series has a limited quantity, potentially increasing collector demand.
Sasha Plotvinov, founder of Notcoin and Open Builders, highlighted that over 500 billion stickers are sent monthly by Telegram users, indicating the platform's growing sticker popularity. He noted that tokenized stickers may facilitate broader adoption of blockchain technology. Plotvinov stated:
“Over 500 billion stickers are sent monthly by users on Telegram. Tokenized stickers are the new mass adoption meta.”
This platform is generating interest through partnerships with projects like Pudgy Penguins, Flappy Bird, and the Bored Ape Yacht Club. Additionally, Blum, a Telegram trading app, plans to launch its own sticker series, while the DOGS community will introduce the “King Dogs” collection to celebrate its meme coin.
This initiative aligns with Durov’s earlier vision of tokenizing stickers but remains an independent project utilizing the TON blockchain. It combines Telegram's popular sticker culture with blockchain technology, enabling creators to monetize their work and allowing users to own and trade exclusive digital stickers.
Telegram Enhances Creator Tools with New Features
This development follows Telegram’s recent announcement introducing features for content creators and mini-app developers to earn revenue and grow their audience. Creators can earn Stars for their contributions, while mini-app developers can leverage these tools to attract users. Users can also access AI-generated stickers and create photo and video collages for sharing.
The AI-powered sticker search improves user experience by allowing searches with multiple keywords, providing instant results from over 40,000 stickers in Telegram’s official packs.
