Treasure DAO Launches Layer-2 Mainnet on ZKsync Elastic Chain

The Web3 gaming studio Treasure launched its layer-2 mainnet. Treasure announced its migration of over 15 games from Arbitrum to its own layer-2 rollup within the ZKsync Elastic Chain ecosystem, facing criticisms of “grant-hopping.”

Treasure was the leading gaming ecosystem on Arbitrum, accounting for approximately 95% of gaming and NFT-related transactions on that chain. Treasure DAO co-founder Karel Vuong acknowledged a grant from ZKsync but emphasized that the migration aimed to find a suitable partner for scalability.

To transfer $190 million worth of its native token, MAGIC, from Arbitrum to the new layer-2, Treasure is utilizing Hyperlane’s interoperability framework.

Treasure’s layer-2 offers native account abstraction in its wallet system, enabling user onboarding through traditional Web2 login methods and gasless transactions. Gamers can swap tokens using Game Exchange (GEX), an automated market maker powered by Magicswap v2.

Upcoming game developments include converting Bitmates’ MMORPG to a fully on-chain system with Magicswap GEX integration, Zeeverse evolving into a multichain MMORPG, Calamity migrating from Base, and various planned token generation events across its games.
