Donald Trump Appoints Bo Hines and Sriram Krishnan for Crypto and AI Roles
President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Bo Hines as the executive director of the “Crypto Council” in his upcoming administration. This announcement was made on December 22 via Trump's social media platform Truth Social. Hines will serve under David Sacks, who was appointed last week to lead the advisory group focused on digital assets.
Trump stated, “In his new role, Bo will work with David to foster innovation and growth in the digital assets space, while ensuring industry leaders have the resources they need to succeed.”
Hines previously ran for North Carolina’s US House seat as a Republican in 2022 but lost to Democrat Wiley Nickel. He received backing from the American Dream Federal Action super PAC and other pro-crypto political action committees.
Appointment of Sriram Krishnan for AI Role
Additionally, Trump announced the selection of Sriram Krishnan, a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), as senior policy advisor for artificial intelligence in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Krishnan will collaborate closely with David Sacks to develop strategies that maintain US leadership in AI.
Krishnan expressed, “I’m honored to be able to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI working closely with David Sacks. Thank you Donald Trump for this opportunity.”
These appointments reflect Trump’s ongoing support for the cryptocurrency sector. During his campaign, he promised to position the US as “the world capital of crypto,” which garnered significant funding from prominent figures in the crypto industry. Trump's team has also introduced its DeFi project, World Liberty Financial, to enhance its presence in the crypto market. Various crypto leaders are contributing to Trump’s inaugural ceremony, anticipating crypto-friendly regulations.
