Unichain Mainnet Launches with Revenue Sharing for UNI Token Holders
Uniswap launched its L2 rollup, Unichain, four months after its announcement. Key features include:
- 200-250 milliseconds finality, faster than Ethereum’s 12 seconds.
- Permissionless fault proof system for transaction verification.
- Deployment of over a dozen applications including Euler and Lido.
Despite innovations, user migration from existing platforms may be slow due to high switching costs. Uniswap v3 maintains substantial liquidity, with around $1.5 billion in TVL.
Uniswap Foundation introduced a revenue-sharing model allocating 65% of net chain revenue to validators and stakers on the Unichain Validation Network (UVN). This move aims to address value accrual concerns for UNI token holders, who could expect annualized net revenue between $16 million to $33 million.
Current trading volumes suggest that if Unichain captures 9-25% of Uniswap's volume, it could achieve activity levels comparable to other L2 solutions like Base.
