Uniswap Labs Begins Deployment of V4 Engine This Week
Uniswap Labs has announced the start of development for its version 4 (V4) engine this week, with full deployment expected next week. This upgrade aims to enhance efficiency and scalability in the decentralized exchange.
Key Features of Uniswap V4
- The introduction of "hooks" allows developers to execute custom code before and after swaps.
- New functionalities will include limit orders, fee management, custom oracles, and automated liquidity management.
- Additional upgrades include gas savings, dynamic fees, native ETH support, flash accounting, and multiple pool types.
The v4 upgrade was previously scheduled for Q3 2024 but remained in testing throughout the year. A bug bounty program was launched in November 2024, offering rewards starting at $2,000 for identifying vulnerabilities in the v4 core smart contracts.
Previously, Uniswap introduced features like a browser extension for easier swapping, limit orders for specific pricing on trades, and improved data insights. With over $2 trillion in swap volume, Uniswap continues to innovate in the DeFi space.
