World Introduces Gas Fee Subsidy Plan for Users Funded by Bots
World, formerly known as Worldcoin (WLD), has introduced a gas fee subsidy plan to reduce transaction costs for individual users by imposing higher fees on bots and institutional users. This initiative aims to make gas fees more affordable for human users, funded by fees collected from non-human participants.
The announcement follows World’s rebranding and the introduction of World Chain, reflecting a shift from a token-centric project to a broader ecosystem. Advisor Liam Horne stated that fees from bots, arbitragers, and institutional clients will subsidize gas fees for private users, supporting the project's mission to validate human identity and combat digital impersonation.
Despite the subsidy announcement, the price of World’s WLD token continues to decline, with only a slight increase in the past day that appears unrelated to the new gas plan.
While the idea of “free gas for humans” is innovative, analysts express skepticism, comparing it to Ethereum's successful efforts in reducing transaction fees through technical upgrades. Critics argue that higher fees for institutional users may deter their participation, potentially undermining the plan’s effectiveness.
Concerns exist regarding institutional adoption; if institutional clients bear the fee burden, they may lack incentives to engage with World’s ecosystem, which could limit the plan’s long-term success.
