XRP And Solana Futures Reach $3 Billion Open Interest Milestone
The open interest in XRP and Solana (SOL) futures and options on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has reached a record $3 billion. This milestone was achieved during Monday’s session, highlighting increased participation from institutional investors.
CME’s Record $3 Billion Milestone
- Open interest for XRP and Solana futures climbed to about $3 billion.
- Approximately 9,900 XRP contracts and 17,400 Solana futures contracts were opened.
- Solana futures launched in March 2025, followed by XRP in May. Both have become prominent in CME's crypto derivatives market.
- CME plans to offer 24/7 trading for cryptocurrency futures and options starting early 2026, pending approval.
XRP and Solana now lead the altcoin derivatives market on CME. Solana futures exceeded $1 billion in open interest by August 2025, while XRP reached this in three months.
Institutional Interest In XRP And Solana
- CME introduced options on XRP and Solana futures, expanding its offerings beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.
