Acting SEC Chair Uyeda Appoints Three Members to Crypto Task Force
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has appointed new members to its Crypto Task Force, announced by Acting Chairman Mark Uyeda. Key appointments include:
- Richard Gabbert as chief of staff and senior advisor
- Taylor Asher as chief policy advisor
- Landon Zinda as counsel and senior advisor
Gabbert and Asher are from within the SEC, while Zinda previously worked at Coin Center and with crypto-friendly lawmakers.
The task force aims to create a clear regulatory framework for crypto assets, collaborating with Congress, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and the crypto industry. This move signals a shift from the previous enforcement-heavy approach under former Chairman Gary Gensler.
The SEC acknowledged past confusion regarding registration and legality, stating it will focus on providing clarity to foster innovation and reduce fraud in the crypto space.
