Survey Finds 80% of Americans Support Converting Gold Reserves to Bitcoin

A survey by The Nakamoto Project indicates that 80% of Americans support converting part of the U.S. gold reserves into Bitcoin. Key findings include:

  • The survey involved 3,345 participants.
  • Most respondents preferred a conversion of 1% to 30%, with a median recommendation of 10%.
  • Younger participants showed greater openness to larger allocations of Bitcoin.
  • Concerns were raised about the survey's credibility, but co-founder Troy Cross stated it reflects a balanced view between gold and Bitcoin.

The U.S. currently has over 8,133 tons of gold valued at over $830 billion and approximately 207,189 BTC, under 3% of gold's value.

White House adviser Bo Hines proposed using profits from gold reserves to acquire up to 1 million BTC over five years, aligning with Senator Lummis’ Bitcoin Act of 2025.
