Bitcoin Hashrate Reaches 1 Zettahash as Miner Revenue Falls to $42.40
Bitcoin's (BTC) hashrate reached a record of 1 zettahash (ZH/s) on Friday, surpassing the previous high of 975 exahashes per second (EH/s) set on January 31. This marks a significant increase from its first achievement of 1 EH/s in 2016.
- Despite the rising hashrate, bitcoin's price fell by 10%, currently around $77,000.
- Analyzing hashrate using a 24-hour timeframe can be misleading; the 7-day moving average shows it at 879 EH/s.
- The difficulty adjustment for mining increased by nearly 7%, reaching an all-time high of 121.5 trillion (T).
- Of the last 17 adjustments, 14 were positive, ensuring blocks are mined approximately every 10 minutes.
- Miner revenue per exahash, known as hashprice, dropped to a record low of $42.40 due to low transaction fees and high network difficulty.
