Bitcoin May Be Entering a Supercycle, Says Analyst Alex Krüger
Macro analyst Alex Krüger suggests that Bitcoin is “highly likely” in a supercycle, highlighting its current trajectory compared to previous market cycles. A Bitcoin supercycle refers to a phase where Bitcoin's price is expected to rise significantly, driven by mainstream adoption, surpassing traditional boom-and-bust patterns.
Is Bitcoin In A Supercycle?
Following President-elect Donald Trump’s pro-Bitcoin stance and plans for a strategic Bitcoin reserve, Krüger stated: “Stop comparing this cycle to prior cycles. Bitcoin is highly likely in a supercycle.” He noted the crypto industry has undergone a historic transformation, shifting from a state-despised entity to one embraced by regulators in a short time frame.
Krüger drew comparisons to the 1970s gold market, referencing the impact of Nixon ending the Gold Standard, which led to gold prices skyrocketing. He suggested that Bitcoin could see a significant local top around March, but emphasized that this does not necessarily indicate the start of a bear market. Current market conditions do not suggest an imminent peak, as historical Bitcoin bull runs typically last several months.
He warned about the psychological aspects influencing market sentiment, stating: “The moment you all finally believe what I just wrote, then it will [be] the top.” X user Paradox Parrot expressed skepticism about the supercycle notion, to which Krüger replied that while altcoins may experience volatility, the current situation has already demonstrated differences from past cycles.
Contrarily, Chris Burnsike from Placeholder VC expressed doubt regarding the supercycle theory, asserting that believing in such a concept can lead to missed selling opportunities. At press time, BTC traded at $98,287.
