Bitcoin Whitepaper Published 17 Years Ago by Satoshi Nakamoto

Documenting Bitcoin marked the 17th anniversary of the publication of the Bitcoin whitepaper by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto. The nine-page paper, "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System," was initially sent to cryptographers on October 31, 2008.

  • The whitepaper introduced Bitcoin as a decentralized cryptocurrency, designed to operate independently of government or third-party influence.
  • It established a maximum supply limit of 21 million BTC.
  • Satoshi proposed a Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism to solve the "double spending" issue in traditional finance.

The true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto remains unknown. Recently, Tucker Carlson speculated about a possible CIA connection, which has been criticized.

Since its inception, Bitcoin has seen significant events, such as Laszlo Hanyecz's purchase of two pizzas for 10,000 BTC. The cryptocurrency has reached an all-time high above $126,000 and is currently trading at $110,014.43.
