Bitcoin’s 7-Day Average Hashrate Reaches 1 Zettahash for First Time

Bitcoin's hashrate has reached 1 zettahash per second (1 ZH/s) on a seven-day moving average, achieving a new all-time high, according to Glassnode data.

  • The hashrate indicates the average number of hashes per second produced by miners securing the network.
  • This is the first sustained instance of 1 ZH/s on a seven-day moving average.
  • In comparison, 1 ZH/s equals 1,000 exahashes (EH/s); Bitcoin first surpassed 1 EH/s in 2016.
  • The hash rate increased from around 800 EH/s at the start of 2025 to 1 ZH/s today.
  • A significant difficulty adjustment of over 7% is expected in the next two days, marking the second largest upward adjustment of the year.
  • Difficulty adjustments occur approximately every two weeks to maintain block generation at around 10 minutes.
  • Following the adjustment, difficulty will rise to 138.96 trillion (T).
