DeFi Sector Reaches Three-Year High of $153 Billion
The decentralized finance (DeFi) sector has reached a three-year high of $153 billion, attributed to Ethereum’s price approaching $4,000 and increased capital in restaking platforms. This is the strongest performance since May 2022.
- Ethereum accounts for nearly 60% of DeFi's total value locked (TVL), primarily through Lido and Aave with over $60 billion.
- ETH has increased by 60% in the past month due to significant institutional investments.
- Restaking allows users to earn base staking rewards alongside additional yield through liquid tokens, with some strategies offering returns as high as 25%.
- Solana’s DeFi TVL rose by 23%, driven by projects like Sanctum and Jupiter.
- Avalanche and Sui saw TVL increases of 33% and 39% respectively, while Bitcoin’s DeFi growth was slower at 9%.
