Ethereum ETFs Experience $38 Million Outflows, Ending Positive Streak

During a crypto market rally, Ethereum's price increased by 8.07% over the past week, reaching approximately $3,600. Despite this gain, Ethereum Spot ETFs experienced a net outflow of $38.20 million, breaking a five-week positive trend. This underperformance coincided with Bitcoin Spot ETFs returning to positive inflows but achieving their lowest amounts in five months.

Ethereum Spot ETFs Open 2025 On Negative Note

Post-US elections in November, Ethereum Spot ETFs and other crypto markets saw significant investor interest due to expectations of a pro-crypto government led by President-elect Donald Trump. Despite a 23% drop in ETH price during a broad market correction, interest in Ethereum Spot ETFs remained robust, with net inflows estimated at $2.11 billion for the month.

However, data from SoSoValue indicates that these ETFs faced a net outflow of $38.20 million in the first trading week of 2025, reflecting a shift in US institutional investors' sentiment.

Bitwise’s ETHE recorded the largest outflows at $56.11 million, followed by Grayscale’s ETHE with withdrawals of approximately $51.62 million. Franklin Templeton’s EZET also saw outflows totaling $3.11 million.

In contrast, Fidelity’s FETH attracted the most inflows last week, with investments of $38.42 million, while BlackRock’s ETHA received $33.88 million. Grayscale’s ETH had modest inflows of $1.10 million, and both 21 Shares’ CETH and VanEck’s ETHV did not register any market flows.

As of now, BlackRock’s ETHA is the leading Ethereum Spot ETF with total cumulative inflows of $3.56 billion, while Grayscale’s ETHE holds $5.07 billion in net assets. Despite recent outflows, Ethereum Spot ETFs have seen substantial growth, totaling $13.03 billion in net assets, representing 3% of Ethereum's market cap.
