First Spot Solana ETFs Launch on Toronto Stock Exchange This Week

Canadian investors will be able to trade a spot Solana (SOL) exchange-traded fund (ETF) on the Toronto Stock Exchange starting Wednesday. Four asset managers, including Purpose, Evolve, CI, and 3iQ, are launching these funds with staking capabilities.

The Ontario Securities Commission approved the funds on Monday. In contrast, U.S. issuers like Grayscale and Fidelity are still awaiting approval from the SEC for a spot Solana fund.

Currently, two ETFs tracking SOL futures are available in the U.S.:

  • Volatility Shares Solana ETF - https://holder.io/coins/solz/
  • Volatility Shares 2X Solana ETF - https://holder.io/coins/solt/

These have garnered around $5 million and $10 million respectively.

Spot crypto ETFs have been highly successful, attracting billions over the past year, notably with bitcoin (BTC) ETFs achieving record launches.
