MetaMask Introduces Smart Contract Capabilities and New User Features
MetaMask announced updates to enhance user experience, focusing on integrating smart contract capabilities into its wallet. Currently classified as an Externally Owned Account (EOA), MetaMask will transition towards Contract Accounts (CAs) that offer recovery mechanisms and security checks.
Key updates include:
- Introduction of smart-contract-based accounts to improve security and user control.
- Implementation of ERC-5792 for batched transactions, allowing users to execute multiple transaction steps in one click, thus saving time and gas fees.
- Launch of the MetaMask debit card in select U.S. states by mid-March, enabling users to spend crypto directly from their wallet.
- Support for Bitcoin and Solana added, allowing users to manage multiple cryptocurrencies in one platform.
These enhancements aim to streamline interactions and increase functionality within the MetaMask ecosystem.
