Metaplanet Acquires $130M Loan for Bitcoin Expansion

Asian financial firm Metaplanet has secured a $130 million loan to acquire more Bitcoin, reinforcing its commitment to expanding BTC holdings and solidifying its position in the crypto industry.

  • The credit facility's total limit is $500 million, with $230 million already drawn.
  • The loan, backed by Metaplanet's existing BTC holdings, features daily automatic renewal and can be repaid at any time.
  • Funds will be used for Bitcoin acquisition, expanding BTC-based revenue operations, and potential share repurchases.
  • Metaplanet currently holds 30,823 BTC, valued at $3.1 billion as of Nov. 19.
  • Previously, on Nov. 5, Metaplanet secured a $100 million loan for BTC acquisition.

Recently, Metaplanet allocated $119 million from a $151 million preferred share raise toward Bitcoin operations, with $107 million dedicated to purchasing Bitcoin and $12 million for options trading. The purchases are planned between Dec. 2025 and Mar. 2026.

Metaplanet aims to become one of the largest Bitcoin holders, potentially competing with Strategy, which holds 649,870 BTC.
