Metaplanet Issues 2 Billion Yen Bond for Bitcoin Purchases
Japanese hotel firm Metaplanet (3350) has issued a 2 billion yen ($13.3 million) zero-coupon bond to fund additional purchases of bitcoin. The bond matures on September 30.
Metaplanet has been included in the BetaShares Crypto Innovators ETF (CRYP), which manages over $50 billion in assets. It holds the largest weighting in the ETF at 15.5%, surpassing notable companies like Strategy and Coinbase.
The CRYP ETF, traded on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), provides exposure to leading crypto and blockchain firms but is down 23% year-to-date.
Metaplanet ranks as the tenth-largest publicly listed holder of bitcoin, with a treasury of 3,200 BTC.
