Metaplanet Buys 1,112 BTC, Overtakes Coinbase as Ninth Largest Holder
Metaplanet (3350), a Japanese firm, increased its bitcoin holdings to 10,000 BTC, surpassing Coinbase (COIN) and now ranks ninth among publicly traded companies by bitcoin ownership.
The company acquired 1,112 BTC for $117.2 million at an average price of $105,435 per bitcoin, as stated by CEO Simon Gerovich. This brought its total above Coinbase's 9,267 BTC, according to BitcoinTreasuries.com.
As of June 16, Metaplanet's cumulative investment in bitcoin reached approximately $947 million, with an average acquisition cost of $94,697 per BTC since starting its accumulation in April 2024.
