Metaplanet Issues 3.6 Billion Yen Bonds to Increase Bitcoin Holdings

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet is issuing bonds worth 3.6 billion yen (approximately $24.8 million) to acquire more Bitcoin. This decision follows a Board meeting on May 2, 2025, where the 12th Series of Ordinary Bonds was approved for bondholder EVO FUND.

Metaplanet’s Strategy in the BTC Ecosystem

Metaplanet appointed David Bailey, CEO of BTC Inc., to its advisory board to enhance Bitcoin adoption and strengthen its market position. Additionally, on April 14, it acquired 145 Bitcoin for $13.6 million.

Other companies, like Semler Scientific, are also increasing Bitcoin holdings, indicating a trend toward institutional investment diversification in cryptocurrencies.
