Metaplanet to Sell $25 Million in Bonds for Bitcoin Purchases

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet (3350) plans to sell an additional $25 million in bonds to EVO FUND to finance further bitcoin purchases. This follows a recent issuance of the same amount of bonds to the same buyer. The new bonds will have no interest and are set to mature on November 6.

Metaplanet also announced the acquisition of 555 BTC for 7.63 billion yen ($53.5 million), increasing its total bitcoin holdings to 5,555. This positions Metaplanet as holding the largest bitcoin reserve among public companies outside North America.

Following this news, Metaplanet shares rose approximately 11.5%, closing at 477 yen ($3.33).
