Roswell Establishes First U.S. Bitcoin Reserve on April 29, 2025

On April 29, 2025, Roswell became the first U.S. city to establish a Bitcoin reserve, named the Roswell Strategic (Bitcoin) Reserve. This was confirmed by Acting Mayor Juliana Halvorson and Bitcoin professional Guy Malone.

The city received its first Bitcoin donation of 0.0305 BTC (approximately $2,906) on January 3, 2025.
This donation was officially transferred to the city's custody on April 29, 2025.
The fund will be held for a minimum of ten years to grow the BTC donations.
After ten years, donations can offset water bills for senior citizens in Roswell.
Once the fund exceeds $1 million, up to 21% can be accessed every five years as a liquid emergency fund, pending a unanimous city council vote.
Cryptocurrency donations are welcomed, and donors over $250 can request a receipt.
New Hampshire is considering creating a Bitcoin reserve, with a bill set for a senate vote.
