Pakistan Crypto Minister Meets NYC Mayor to Discuss Bitcoin Partnership

Pakistan's Minister of State for Crypto and Blockchain, Bilal Bin Saqib, is engaging with Wall Street to enhance the country's crypto landscape. Key meetings include:

  • Discussion with Brandon Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, focusing on tokenization, Bitcoin mining, and collaboration opportunities.
  • Meeting with New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who aims to launch a Bitcoin bond.

Cantor Fitzgerald has shown increased interest in cryptocurrency, including plans for a $3 billion acquisition company involving Tether and Bitfinex, and a $2 billion Bitcoin-backed lending initiative.

Saqib also met Robert Hines from Donald Trump’s Council on Digital Assets to discuss Pakistan's proposed Bitcoin reserve plan, aiming to foster international collaboration on digital assets.

The Asian country announced its Strategic BTC Reserve at the Bitcoin 2025 Conference, with plans for comprehensive digital asset policies to regulate and innovate in the sector. Saqib envisions Pakistan as a leader in digital assets within the Global South.

In contrast, the UK opposes a national crypto reserve, prioritizing blockchain integration in its financial system.
