Roger Ver Near Settlement on U.S. Tax Fraud Charges
Roger Ver, an early Bitcoin investor and Bitcoin Cash advocate, is nearing a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice over tax fraud charges.
Ver was indicted for not filing tax returns on capital gains from selling significant amounts of Bitcoin after renouncing his U.S. citizenship.
The proposed settlement involves Ver paying approximately $48 million in taxes, pending approval by a federal judge.
A court hearing is scheduled for December 15, 2025.
Ver employed Roger Stone to lobby for assistance in resolving the case.
President Donald Trump has pardoned several crypto figures during his current term, including Ross Ulbricht and Arthur Hayes.
Changpeng "CZ" Zhao, Binance's founder, has also sought a presidential pardon following his prison term related to anti-money laundering compliance issues.
