Tether Launches Tether Data AI SDK with Self-Custodial Features

Tether is expanding its operations into artificial intelligence (AI) with a new initiative called Tether Data. This shift includes the development of AI applications such as:

  • Voice assistant
  • AI-driven translator
  • Bitcoin wallet assistant

An open-source AI SDK will be released, built on Bare, a JavaScript runtime from Holepunch. This platform will support a range of hardware and prioritize privacy by operating locally on devices, reducing reliance on centralized cloud services.

Wallet Development Kit Enhances Self-Custody

In November 2024, Tether launched the Wallet Development Kit (WDK), aimed at developers for creating self-custodial Bitcoin and USDT wallets. The WDK promotes financial autonomy and supports both human and AI-driven asset management.

Market Reaction to AI Innovations

Post-announcement, USDT's market cap increased by $1 billion, rising from $139.50 billion to 140.60 billion. This reflects heightened investor confidence in AI-related innovations. Notably, DOGEAI surged by 92% within 24 hours.

However, volatility persists in AI cryptocurrencies, with significant drops reported among top tokens like NEAR and ICP, falling 8-10% due to disruptions caused by China's DeepSeek AI models. Additionally, Meta has introduced the Frontier AI Framework to assess risks associated with AI technology.
